RULES OF POKER
How to play poker?
TEXAS  HOLD'EM , OMAHA , SEVEN CARDS STUD
TEXAS HOLD'EM

In general, texas hold em game is played with a standard card deck of 52 cards. The card colors are not important because they have no value and they cannot break a tie. The cards are separated into four groups known as suits. What is important here is the value of the cards that the players have. Well, in fact, the players hold only two cards and the other three cards that are needed to form a poker hand they take from the five cards that the dealer has put in the middle of the table during the betting rounds. These five cards are used by all of the active players in the end of the game when the winner has to be declared. The essential part of texas hold em game is the betting. The betting and the way it follows during the initial game determines the amount of the pot. In the beginning, the first two players sitting to the left side of the dealer post the forced bets known also as the small and the big blinds. They are made to assure that there will be something in the pot before the beginning of the game. The position of the Blinds moves clockwise after each initial game.

The first texas hold em game betting round occurs after the dealing of the two hole cards. Then all the players must decide what to do - to call, to fold, to check or to rise. The game continues with the players that have not fold. The dealer deals three cards face up in the center of the table and the second betting round occurs. The fourth card is dealt and the third betting round follows after that. The last betting round occurs after the dealing of the last community card.

the options for betting in texas hold em game are four, as I mentioned above. And here comes the explanation of these terms. To call means to bet the same amount of money as the highest bet until this moment. To raise means to increase the amount of the highest bet until the current moment. To check means to stay in the game without paying anything, but this can be made only if there is nobody that has called or raised. If a player decides to fold, this means that he declares the end of his play for the initial game. All the players have only three bets per round.

Texas hold em game - Hand Ranking

The goal of texas hold em game is to form a hand of five cards that can be the highest possible for the initial game. The value of the hands, known also as hand ranking is as follows:

Royal Flush - this is the highest hand for the texas hold em game and in poker in general. It is consisted by Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten from one suit.

Straight Flush - this card combination is made by four cards from one suit, which are in numerical sequence.

Four-Of-A-Kind - here, the player has four cards from the same rank. For example, four Queens or four Sevens. If two players have four-of-a-kind, the winner is the player with the highest four-of-a-kind.

Full House - the full house is also known as boat, but this name is rarely used. To have full house means to have three cards from one rank and two from another. If two players have the same two-of-a-kind cards, the winner is the player with the highest three-of-a-kind.

Flush - flush is a combination of five cards from the same suit. There must be no sequence between the cards, because if there is, it will be a straight flush. If two players have flushes, the winner is the player with the highest top card.

Straight - the next texas hold em game hand is formed by five cards in numerical sequence but from different suits. If there are more than one straights, the winner is the player with the highest top card from the straight.

Three-Of-A-Kind - this is one of the lowest hand ranks in texas hold em game. It is consisted by three cards from one suit and if there are two players with three-of-a-kind, the player with the highest card from the kickers is the winner.

Two-Of-A-Kind - Here the player must has two cards from one suit.

High Card - when the players cannot form any of the combinations above, the winner can be determined by the highest hole card. If the top cards of two players are equal, the comparison is made between the second top cards and so on.

RULES OF OMAHA POKER

Dealing

The dealer deals each player four cards face down ("hole cards") starting with the player to the left of the dealer-button. This is followed by the first betting round. Next the dealer deals 3 community cards face up in the middle of the table ("the flop"). Another round of betting follows this. Now the dealer deals one card face up and places it next to the "flop" cards, called the "turn". The third round of betting follows. Lastly the dealer deals the last card face up and places it next to the other cards in the middle of the table, called the "river" card. The final round of betting takes place followed by the "showdown". To win the showdown, the player must have the highest ranking hand using 2 of his hole cards and three community cards.

Blinds

In Ring game the blinds must be paid by the two players immediately seated to the dealers left. The first player to the left of the dealer must post the "small blind" which is half of the small stake. In the example of a $5/$10 game, the small blind is $2.50. The player to his left must post the "big blind" which is the full amount of the lower limit of the stake, in this case it would be $5. However, the Heads-up blind structure is a little different. Usually the player who owns the dealer-button pays the big blind and his opponent pays the small blind.

In limit Omaha the first two rounds of betting are set at the lower limit of the stake structure. For example say you are playing in a $5/$10 limit game then all the bets are $5 for the first two betting rounds and all bets are $10 for the last two betting rounds. The player to the right of the "big blind" starts the betting round all subsequent betting rounds are started by the "small blind" player. The maximum number of bets per player per round is limited to 4 bets. For example say there was a bet (1) in first position after the button ("under the gun") and then the next player raises (2), then the next player raises (3) and then the next player raises (4) at this point the pot is capped and no more bets can be made. All subsequent players must either call or fold. After the "flop" is dealt the second stage of betting starts. At this point if you like to bet you would need to put the upper limit of the stake into the pot. For our example above you would then need to put $10 into the pot to make a bet.
